Can you rest at Luton Airport on a layover?

Yes, but not in a room inside the terminal: the airport lists none. For sleep, the Holiday Inn Express says it's under 10 minutes' walk from the terminal and the ibis about 5 minutes. Left luggage is open daily 4am to 10pm.

Hotels in and next to the terminal

London Luton Airport (LTN) lists no hotel inside the terminal and nothing airside: Luton has no transit area, so you’ll have cleared the border on arrival anyway. Instead it lists several hotels within walking distance.

  • Check-in times matter on a daytime layover: the Holiday Inn Express checks in from 3pm and out at 11am, and the ibis from 2pm and out by noon. Neither page lists day rooms, so ask the hotel before you book a daytime stay.
  • Breakfast at the Holiday Inn Express starts at 4am on weekdays (6:30am at weekends), which suits an early flight.
  • The airport’s hotels page also lists the Courtyard by Marriott Luton Airport, without saying how far it is.

Lounges you can pay for

Both lounges are after security, so you need a boarding pass for your onward flight to reach them.

LoungeWhereHoursFrom
My LoungeMain departure hall, after security and duty free4am to 9pm daily£37.99
No1 LoungeBy Gate 174am to 8pm daily£38
  • My Lounge includes a self-service food menu, a bar, a family lounge and Wi-Fi. Anyone flying from Luton can book; at the door, entry depends on space.
  • No1 Lounge lets you in up to 3 hours before your flight; earlier entry costs extra, if there’s space. Children aged 2 and over are welcome, and under-2s go free. It advises booking ahead.

Showers

Neither lounge lists showers among what’s included, and the airport’s pages checked for this guide name no other showers in the terminal. If you need one, book a hotel room.

Fast Track

Luton sells Fast Track through security from 4:15am to 8pm: from £4 online if you book more than 24 hours before your flight, or from £8 at the airport’s kiosks. Children under 2 go free, and you can cancel or change up to 24 hours ahead.

Left luggage

Excess Baggage Company, in the check-in area, stores bags short and long term, open daily from 4am to 10pm. You can pay in the shop on the day or pre-book online; the airport’s page gives no prices. The same company wraps bags and handles lost property found in the terminal.

Connections, money and Wi-Fi

  • Connections: Luton has no transit facilities. Arriving, you go through immigration, leave the arrivals building, walk round to departures and go through security again. The airport says airlines recommend being at check-in or bag drop 2 hours before your flight, and gates close 30 minutes before departure. From 10 November 2026, Ryanair’s bag drop closes 60 minutes before departure.
  • Open all night: the terminal is open 24 hours, and Caffè Nero, Pret a Manger and Starbucks are among the outlets open around the clock.
  • Quiet and children: there’s a quiet room by Gate 17 in departures, and a small children’s area next to Gate 7.
  • Charging: points by the information desk, in the departure lounge and next to Gates 6, 7, 22 and 30.
  • Money: Change Group exchanges currency before security and at the escalators into duty free.
  • Wi-Fi: the airport points you to the terminal Wi-Fi once you’re through security.
